M A Hashem College background

With a view to imparting higher education, M A Hashem College was established in 1996. In 1995 when the government declared that eleven class would be opened in progressive schools, some educationists of Kazirhat expressed their keen interest and determination to open Eleven class in then Alaiarpur Kazirhat Public High School and the same year permission was accorded by the Ministry of Education. From the academic year 1996-97, the college launched academic activities with the slogan ‘Education for a better tomorrow’.

Despite cordial efforts of all concerned, it was nearly impossible to bear the cost for maintenance of the college. The then Governing Body of the college along with some local elites called upon Mr. M A Hashem, a prominent philanthropist, industrialist and the Chairman of Partex Group and urged upon him for his support. As he very kindly responded positively, the college was separated from Alaiarpur Kazirhat Public High School. The college was named M A Hashem College and Mr. M A Hashem has become its sole founder. Since then all the cost of the college is being born by the founder. At present H.S.C (Humanities, Science and Business Studies), Degree Pass(BA, BBS, BSS) and Honours courses in Accounting, Marketing and Management are being run in the college and opening Masters Course in some subjects is under consideration. A number of 2031 students in HSC, Degree (Pass) & Honours courses are presently studying  in the college.

Two four-storied buildings have been built with the financial help of Mr. M A Hashem including only Tk.30,60,000/- from GOB fund. Funded by Mr. M A Hashem 7.5 acres of land have been bought in the name of college. Construction work of student hostel, teachers’ dormitory and Principal’s Bungalow will start soon with the financial help of Honourable Founder. M A Hashem College is to-day considered an ideal educational institution of the locality.
